Sims and Sons, based in Gleason, Tennessee, specializes in dry and liquid bulk hauling, primarily servicing the South and Midwest. The company provides bulk shipping solutions in both Canada and the United States while augmenting its network with partners in Mexico.
Bulk Hauler
The trucking company routinely hauls bulk raw materials using pneumatic tankers, liquid tankers, and dump trailers, including end dump and hopper bottom trailers. Commodities hauled include clay, sand, oils, and other non-hazmat products.
“In acquiring Doyle Sims & Sons Trucking, we are not just adding another company to our portfolio, we are integrating three-quarters of a century's worth of experience, knowledge, and legacy into the Trimac family,” said Matt Faure, Trimac president and CEO.
Sims & Sons is the fourth bulk transportation company acquired by Trimac this year. It was founded in 1949 by Doyle Sims. His son David Sims joined the company in 1982 and was majority owner prior to the acquisition. Johnny Wagster, the current CEO, joined Sims & Sons in 1998 and will continue his involvement in the business after this acquisition.
The acquisition of Sims & Sons will increase Trimac’s fleet size by more than 110 tractors and 120 trailers, which include liquid and pneumatic tankers as well as dump trailers.
