Transportation and logistics company TransForce announced that it intends to change its corporate name to TFI International to reflect the increased geographic scope of its operations.

The change will be reviewed later this month at a special meeting of TransForce shareholders, to be held in Montreal, Quebec, where it will need a two-thirds majority of votes to be approved.

When approved, TransForce will file Articles of Amendment to put the name change into effect, and the company expects that its shares will commence trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the new name by the end of the year. TransForce’s stock symbol TSX will also change to TFII.

“This change in our corporate identity is in line with the company’s growing operations and footprint in the U.S. where we currently generate approximately 50% of our revenue,” said Alain Bédard, chairman, president and CEO.

In October, TransForce also changed the name of the North American truckload operation XPO Logistics to CFI after acquiring it as a wholly owned subsidiary. CFI represents an expansion of TransForce’s truckload and logistics services across North America.
