Thompson Truck and Trailer has completed construction and opened its headquarters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The commercial truck dealership facility is about two and a half times larger than its previous facility, approximately 71,500 square feet in size. Officials broke ground on the project in Nov. 2015 and completed construction in January. The company’s previous facility was built in the 1950s.
With the move to a new larger facility, Thompson said it will hire between 10 and 12 more employees as technicians and sales associates.
The facility houses all of the company’s departments under one roof, including its body shop, service department, parts department, and administrative offices. The previous headquarters was housed across three buildings.
The new facility includes a 19,500-square-foot body shop that can house 12 trucks and a nearly 28,000-square-foot service department that can hold 22 trucks with machinery.
