Teletrac Navman, a provider of GPS tracking and fleet management solutions, has announced its new Director ELD solution, which meets all currently published technical requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's electronic logging device mandate. Teletrac Navman Drive, the in-cab ELD component of Director, joins the FMCSA's list of registered ELDs.
Director ELD expands on the company's ELD Guarantee, promising Director HOS customers no-cost firmware and software updates in accordance with ELD and any subsequent compliance changes.
"Fleets and trucking operations face great uncertainty with today's changing business environment, competitive pressures and regulations. To allay those concerns, Teletrac Navman built Director ELD, leveraging proven Hours of Service capabilities that have been widely adopted by fleets small and large for more than 10 years," said Renaat Ver Eecke, president of Teletrac Navman.
For dispatchers and managers, Director provides a single, all-encompassing view of up-to-the-minute HOS statuses for each driver as well as early identification of potential violations.
It also offers an array of telematics capabilities, including vehicle analytics, driver behavior monitoring, enhanced geofencing, custom reporting, and dashboards as well as robust third party integrations to help carriers reduce operational expenses and build a more efficient, safe and connected fleet.
The company said that fleet managers can rely on Director's end-to-end workflow solutions to view all aspects of their fleet from the office or their mobile device.
"Safety is a priority in everything Alamo does, and getting ahead of the ELD mandate is no exception," said Gene Davis, compliance supervisor for Alamo Transit Company, a Buzzi Unicem company. "We're confident knowing Director ELD is and will remain FMCSA-compliant, but we also selected it because of how helpful and easy to use the in-cab app is for drivers. We expect significant benefits to our safety, efficiency, and compliance as a result of implementing this solution."

For drivers, Teletrac Navman Drive is an easy-to-use suite of applications integrated into the in-cab Garmin device. To avoid HOS violations and take the guesswork out of compliance, drivers can proactively stay ahead of driving hours and breaks through audible alerts and post-trip feedback reports. Teletrac Navman Drive also includes advanced in-vehicle navigation with truck routing, two-way messaging and electronic Driver-Vehicle Inspection Reports to make drivers' jobs easier.
"We're excited to partner with Teletrac Navman, a company that's committed to helping carriers comply with the impending ELD mandate and one that offers an array of essential fleet tracking features, all of which make Pointdirect Transport, Inc a more efficient operation, and more importantly, a much safer one," said Adolfo De La Herran, president, Pointdirect Transport, Inc. "Teletrac Navman technology provides complete transparency and eliminates common violations, improves communication between drivers and office personnel, and has allowed our company to experience growth while becoming more efficient, which is not easy to accomplish."
As outlined in its ELD Guarantee Program, Teletrac Navman will continue to upgrade Director ELD customers with the relevant compliance specifications when and as they become defined, ensuring customers' investments remain protected before and well after the December 18, 2017 and December 16, 2019 ELD compliance deadlines.
