“Whatever he was doing to me, I thought was normal,” says a human trafficking survivor in a teaser video for a new corporate training video from TAT, a nonprofit dedicated to working with trucking and transportation to fight human trafficking.

In just one year, more than 35,000 cases of human trafficking were reported in the U.S., more than half of which involved children. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. It’s believed that hundreds of thousands of victims go unseen and unreported annually, according to the American Trucking Associations.

Since 2012, ATA has partnered with TAT (originally named Truckers Against Trafficking). The nonprofit is dedicated to training and certifying transportation professionals on best practices in recognizing and reporting the red flags of human trafficking.

The organization changed its name after broadening its focus to include other parts of transportation, such as transit, bus, and school transportation.

TAT has launched a new training video designed for corporate employees, from administrative staff and dispatchers to salespeople and executives.

Re-enactments of human trafficking situations are woven together with narration provided by a TAT representative, a corporate representative, and three diverse survivors.

“Human trafficking is modern-day slavery and one of the worst human rights violations of our time,” ATA said in an email to members about the new training video.

There is no certificate issued after the completion of this course. Commercial drivers who need a certificate to obtain or renew their CDL should complete one of TAT’s main industry training courses available in the Course Library.
