National Tank Truck Carriers recently honored Carbon Express and Miller Transporters with its Outstanding Safety Performance Award for their commitment to safety.

The award recognizes the best tank truck safety programs in two carrier fleet mileage divisions. Jackson, Miss.-based Miller Transporters won in the 31.5 million-40 million mileage category and Carbon Express of Wharton, N.J., was the grand winner in the 3.5 million-5 million mile class. The award is sponsored by Heil Trailer International.

Miller had an accident frequency of 0.295 accidents per million miles, while Carbon Express averaged zero accidents per million miles to win its category. Carbon Express was named a 2015 HDT Truck Fleet Innovator. By winning their respective mileage classes, both carriers qualified as finalists for the Outstanding Safety Performance Awards.

Miller Transporters’ Ray Riley and John Bowlby of Carbon Express will also be recognized as NTTC's Safety Professionals of the Year at the Safety Awards banquet during the Annual meeting of NTTC’s Tank Truck Safety & Security Council on June 16.

“Both companies understand the word ‘safety’ and what it means within our essential industry,” said Doug Chapple, Heil parent-company EnTrans International’s CEO. “Congratulations to both Miller Transporters and Carbon Express Inc. for bringing home the NTTC Outstanding Safety Performance Awards.”

National Tank Truck Carriers is a trade association composed of more than 550 companies specializing in bulk transportation services by cargo tank in North America.
