Repairs have been completed three weeks ahead of schedule after they began in November.

The $18 million to $20 million project was done following a state investigation that found the 400 ft. area that was sagging by around two-feet, was caused by corrosion of steel pilings around one of its supporting piers, as much as ten-feet below ground. Testing revealed soil around the pilings was contaminated with a corrosive compound.
The bridge handles an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 vehicles a day, while its closing leading to traffic problems due to detours.
