Rush Enterprises named technician Erick Lincoln of Albuquerque, New Mexico, its all-around champion for the company’s ninth Tech Skills Rodeo. The competition took place Dec. 15-16 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Lincoln was awarded the Grand Champion trophy and took home more than $16,000 in cash and prizes for winning the event, which tested the trouble-shooting skills and technical knowledge of its contestants.
Rush also recognized six reserve and grand champions in the medium- and heavy-duty divisions, giving out awards for 1st and 2nd place winners.
Last year’s all-around champion, Jason Swann from the Dallas Rush Truck Center, was a reserve champion this year. David Zainfeld from the Houston Rush Truck Center and Dustin Ebert from the Phoenix location were the other two reserve champions, each taking home anywhere from $7,600-$9,350 in cash and prizes.
The Grand Champions this year were led by eventual all-around champion Lincoln, as well as Justin Euler from the St. Petersburg, Fla., Rush Truck Center and Jeremy Weifenbach of the Houston location.
Rush Enterprises CEO Rusty Rush was on stage to congratulate each of the winners alongside special guest, NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, who also spoke at the event. Rusty emphasized the importance of technicians in Rush Enterprises' nationwide network of service centers.
“Tonight’s the night to recognize the folks who make it happen,” Rush said. “It’s recognition for the best of the best.”
