Ruan Transportation Management Systems has named its Driver and Operation of the Year Winners, honoring a long time driver from the company’s Yuma, Arizona branch.

From a pool of 4,400 drivers, Glenn Combs was selected as Ruan’s 2017 Driver of the Year based on length of service, safety performance, and customer service. Combs has been with Ruan since 1996 and has logged more than 3.6 million miles during his 36-year trucking career.

He serves Ruan customer Holsum Bakery and was noted for nearly being preventable accident-free over the course of his driving career.

"Recognizing our drivers and their contributions is the most important thing we can do at Ruan. Our Driver of the Year celebration is our way of honoring your dedication, professionalism, and ongoing commitment to Ruan," said Ben McLean, Ruan CEO, at the award ceremony. "To date, we’ve recognized more than 140 drivers in our Winners’ Circle. You join a distinguished group of our safest, most dedicated professional drivers.”

Each Winners’ Circle honoree is awarded a trophy and cash prize at the Driver and Operation of the Year award ceremony at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates.

The company also recognized its Yuma operation as the 2017 Operation of the Year based on the way it demonstrated the company’s guiding principles. The Yuma operation serves Johnson Controls and has 70 employees, hauling batteries for customers in Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and California. It averages 89,000 miles and between 440-500 deliveries each week.

The 2017 Operation of the Year received a trophy, awards for all winning team members, and a corporate-hosted celebration in Yuma, which will take place later this summer.
