The first PrePass site in Ohio came online this week on Interstate 75 near Findlay, and another 2,400 trucks will join the weigh station bypass system at American Freightways.
PrePass uses a transponder and weigh-in-motion system to allow qualified motor carriers to comply electronically with state weight, safety and credential requirements at highway speeds.

American Freightways will become one of the largest PrePass carriers in the nation, announcing it plans to equip its entire fleet of 4,000 with the transponders.
"We have been very pleased with the PrePass system and the 1,600 trucks that we currently have enrolled," said Gary Bouch, vice president of transportation.
Launched in California in 1995, PrePass is operational at 151 locations in 22 states, with an additional 71 sites committed. More than 175,000 trucks from across the United States are enrolled in PrePass.
