Peterbilt is making Bendix Wingman collision mitigation technology and SmartLinq remote diagnostics available on several medium-duty truck models, the company announced at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis.

The Bendix Wingman Fusion advanced driver assistance system will be made available on the Model 348 and 337 and SmartLinq remote diagnostics will be an option for the Models 348, 337, 330 and 325 when selecting the Paccar PX engine.

The optional Bendix Wingman collision mitigation technology will become available in fall 2019. It integrates camera and radar technology to enable advanced collision mitigation features including object detection, lane departure warning and overspeed alerts. These features contribute to lessen the driver’s workload, helping to enhance overall safety and increasing uptime.

“Peterbilt has long been a leader in safety for the commercial vehicle industry and offering advance driver assistance systems for medium duty products is a further testament to that commitment,” said Kim Lawton, Peterbilt’s medium duty marketing manager. “Driving uptime is one of our core missions and it is also a top of mind purchase driver for Peterbilt customers. Wingman Fusion helps reduce driver fatigue, increases uptime and drives profitability for our medium duty customers.”

SmartLinq will be available for order starting late March. Customers selecting a natural gas engine will also have the option to add remote diagnostics.

Factory installed and fully integrated, SmartLinq is Peterbilt’s solution for connected truck technology to provide customers with real-time fleet health to improve uptime. If a diagnostic code is generated, a notification is produced with details regarding the severity, urgency, recommended actions, and other pertinent information needed for a fleet manager to make informed service decisions to maximize uptime. A two-year subscription is included with the SmartLinq option.

“The Peterbilt SmartLinq Remote Diagnostic solution was introduced in Class 8 Peterbilt trucks in 2015 with tremendous customer acceptance. The system gives customers easy to understand real-time information on the status and performance of their vehicles to maximize uptime,” said Lawton. “Customers are looking for every bit of information available to make informed decisions relative to the service of their vehicles. Extending remote diagnostics to our medium duty products gives Peterbilt customers another tool to drive uptime for their business.”
