Penske Technicians Vie for Best-In-The-Business Honors
Three Penske Truck Leasing technicians were awarded top honors at Penske's 2004 National Technical Challenge Nov. 9 in Reading, Pa

Todd Koss of Indianapolis, Ind., and his teammate Mike Reames of Coatesville, Ind., took first place in the Vehicle Diagnostics and Troubleshooting competition.
Brad Sheldon of Three Oaks, Mich., took first place in the Preventive Maintenance competition.
Technicians at Penske facilities in Indianapolis and Danville, Ill. respectively, Koss and Reames went into the national competition as the first place team from the north central region. A technician at Penske Truck Leasing’s La Porte, Ind. facility, Sheldon went into the national competition as the first place winner from the south central region.
Penske Truck Leasing has challenged maintenance employees to test knowledge and skills through both written and hands-on segments of the competition since 1995.
The Technical Challenge starts at the local level and the winners go on to compete in their area competition. Area winners advance to regional competition, which determines who goes on to compete in the National Technical Challenge.
Prizes are awarded at each level, from $200 at the local level to $2,500 at the national competition. More than 1,250 Penske technicians nationwide participated in this year's Technical Challenge.
According to Ken McKibben, senior vice president for maintenance at Penske Truck Leasing, the Technical Challenge is an excellent opportunity to recognize the contributions Penske's technicians provide to its customers and business.
Technicians from Penske's five regions competed at the national competition. The 15 finalists included five two-person teams competing in the Vehicle Diagnostics and Troubleshooting category, and five individual technicians competing in the Preventive Maintenance category.
