Less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line is opening a new terminal in Memphis this week.

The company said it invested more than $30 million in the 267-door facility after four years of record growth at the previous location. With 416 employees currently, Old Dominion plans to create over 100 new jobs in Memphis over the next two years.

Memphis serves as one of the company’s busiest freight hubs due to its proximity to Interstate 40, Interstate 55, three major rail heads, the largest American cargo airport and the nation’s second largest inland port.

The Memphis service center provides direct service to western Tennessee markets of Memphis, Millington, Bartlett and Somerville; those in east Arkansas such as West Memphis, Wynne and Forrest City; along with ones in northern Mississippi such as Southaven, Olive Branch, Byhalia and Greenwood.

The facility is located at 2098 Spirit of ’76 Drive and is one of five Old Dominion service centers in Tennessee.

The company also maintains facilities in Nashville, Cookeville, Jackson and Morristown, which is the largest in its nationwide network of 222 service centers.
