Biofuel Industries Group LLC, a privately owned holding company that provides resources and strategic direction to its alternative energy affiliates, announced the official opening of the NextDiesel biodiesel facility,
located at 1571 W. Beecher Road in Adrian, Mich.
The 25-acre plant recently held its grand opening ceremony featuring several of Michigan's top dignitaries, including Gov. Jennifer Granholm and U.S Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin. State Congressman Tim Walberg, State Sens. Cameron Brown and Gilda Jacobs, Rep. Dudley Spade and Adrian Mayor Gary McDowell were also in attendance.
The NextDiesel biodiesel facility, which broke ground in December 2006, is the state's first to be built in a designated Renewable Energy Renaissance Zone. The facility is also the largest biodiesel manufacturing facility in Michigan, initially producing 20 million gallons per year with the capacity to manufacture as much as 100 million gallons annually. With its state-of-the-art technology, the plant will be able to produce its high-quality, signature NextDiesel biodiesel using a variety of feedstocks that can be used in any diesel engine and its NextHeat biodiesel for home heating.
NextDiesel is an advanced ASTM-compliant commercial B100 biodiesel fuel, which is manufactured using a highly automated process that does not emit greenhouse gases and uses only recycled water during its production process.
Biodiesel is a clean-burning fuel made entirely from renewable, carbon dioxide absorbing, resources such as vegetable oils, waste oils and greases and animal fat. West Bloomfield, Mich.-based Biofuel Industries Group LLC is a privately owned holding company that provides resources and strategic direction to its alternative energy affiliates.
