The United States Marine Corps and the American Trucking Associations are nearing completion of a unique project to wrap 1,000 semi-trailers with colorful Marine Corps images.
The Marine Corps Recruiting Command -- representing the smallest of the armed services -- developed the public service message campaign and looked to ATA member volunteers to spread the message
Taking the message "on the road" on trailers that criss-cross the U.S. daily gets their message to much larger audiences than most other mediums, say the Marines. Former Marines now in the trucking business were among the first to enlist in the campaign.
The Marine Corps provides materials, wraps the trailers, and then removes the wrap after two years on the road. There is no cost to motor carriers. The only "string" is a pledge to keep the signage on trailers for two years.
Because business conditions and trailer commitments changed somewhat since the program began, the Marine trailer wrap program stills needs “a few good trucks”.
Trucking companies interested in volunteering to help complete the Marines marketing project should contact Tom Flynn, Y3K Grafix, Inc., (toll free 877-935-4723) or tomf@y3kgrafix. For more information on the project, visit www.y3kgrafix.com, scroll down to the Marine Corps emblem.
