Koch Trucking received the award for most improved safety record for 2004-2005 during last month’s Safety Award Luncheon at the Minnesota Trucking Assn.’s Annual Conference held in Alexandria, Minn.

This award is presented to the member company or companies who either have had the most improved safety record in the past year or lower than average crash records.
“Koch Trucking appreciates the fact that our people have made this award possible. Our drivers, staff and management have worked very hard to investigate the root causes of crash involvement, identify those issues and develop training, policies and procedures to correct them,” said John Hiscox, director of safety for Koch Cos., who accepted the award on behalf of the Koch drivers, contractors and employees.
The MTA Safety Council also awarded the 2005 “Herb Ney Memorial Award” to Hiscox.
Koch has converted all of its company-owned tractors to 2005 and 2006 Volvo model 670 and the company has just purchased 600 new trailers.
“Newer equipment not only means less mechanical issues, and down time but better driver comfort and less fatigue-related problems. Koch’s maintenance department keeps our fleet in top-notch condition. When a driver encounters an emergency situation, they have to be able to depend on their equipment to work as designed to be able to avoid potential crash situations, so the tractors and trailers must be in top shape,” says Koch’s Director of Maintenance, Todd Wright.
