A New York-based trucking company has agreed to pay $325,000 to settle claims that it failed to pay the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection fees covering the costs of handling and transporting oil and other hazardous wastes within the state.

A New York-based trucking company has agreed to pay $325,000 to settle claims that it failed to pay the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection fees covering the costs of handling and transporting oil and other hazardous wastes within the state.
Massachusetts’ Hazardous Waste Management Act requires all hazardous waste transporters to pay quarterly transporter fees based on the quantity of hazardous waste transported.
According to the consent judgment, entered in Suffolk Superior Court, Price Trucking Company failed to pay more than $191,000 in hazardous waste transporter fees to the MassDEP in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Price also allegedly failed to submit reports tracking the volume of transported hazardous waste between July 2009 and January 2010, exposing it to up to $175,000 in penalties.
The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office filed a complaint against the company in November 2011. According to the lawsuit, Price Trucking fell behind in its quarterly hazardous waste transporter fee payments in late 2008 and continued to fail to make the required payments. As a result, MassDEP suspended Price Trucking’s transporter license in January 2010.
The license has since expired and Price Trucking no longer operates as a hazardous waste transporter in Massachusetts.
