Con-way Introduces Consolidation and Distribution Services
Con-way announced its new Consolidation and Distribution service for shippers and consignees
Con-way announced its new Consolidation and Distribution service for shippers and consignees.
The solution leverages the knowledge, resources and expertise of three of the company's operating units, Con-way Truckload, Con-way Freight and Con-way Multimodal, to bring shippers reduced transit times and lower total delivered cost of goods. With Consolidation and Distribution, customers benefit from the company's asset- and non-asset-based operations, which can be tailored and integrated in any combination - from a single source.
Consolidation and Distribution services offer shippers a simple way to solve shipping challenges that range from the basic to the most complex. With one call, customers can gain access to transportation management, full truckload and less-than-truckload services, as well as value-added services such as light assembly, kitting and labeling. In addition, asset- and non-asset-based operations can be tailored to maximize production management, distribution or fulfillment strategies.
Overall, Consolidation and Distribution services:
• Lower transportation costs
• Improve overall profitability
• Reduce reliance and pressure on existing distribution centers
• Reduce warehousing time and create seamless integration between different modes of transportation
• Provide flexible capability and capacity to handle market or material demand surges without compromising transportation or supply cycle reliability
"It's more important than ever for shippers to reduce their total landed costs and they can't afford to do so at the expense of customer service and their competitive advantage," said Tom Nightingale, vice president, communications and chief marketing officer, Con-way Inc. "Con-way's Consolidation and Distribution service provides a single-source transportation solution that can be customized to take freight from the first to the last mile. This product is a simple, flexible way for shippers to get their freight to market faster and more reliably, while keeping inventory, warehousing and transportation costs down."
