Linda Nodland, a 28-year trucking veteran and driver-sales representative for Con-Way Western Express in Renton, Wash., was one of seven professional truck drivers from Washington state who accepted the State Team trophy
at the National Truck Driving Championships held last month in Salt Lake City.
The team trophy is an annual award presented to the state trucking association and corresponding state team that outscores all other teams at the championships. More than 360 drivers from 50 state teams competed in nine equipment classes. Competition is based on driving skill and knowledge of the trucking industry, equipment, safety policies and safety regulations. In 2001 and 2002 Nodland won first place in the flatbed class and in 2004 qualified for the national competition by again placing first in the state flatbed competition.
"Linda is among the nation's best professional drivers. Her driving record of over 1.7 million accident-free miles demonstrates her professionalism and dedication to safe operation," said John Labrie, president and chief executive officer of Con-Way Western Express.
Con-Way Western Express, based in Buena Park, Calif. is a less-than-truckload freight carrier and an operating company of Con-Way Transportation Services Inc., a $2.2 billion transportation and services company that provides time-definite and day-definite freight delivery services and logistics for commercial and industrial businesses.
