Con-way Announces 2008 'ALPHA' Program Participants

Con-way Inc. announced the second enterprise-wide class to be enrolled in its ALPHA development program, a three-year curriculum for selected employees that provides training and education to prepare participants for potential future opportunities in executive management.


ALPHA, which stands for Advanced Leadership Preparation for Highest Achievement, is designed to ensure that future leaders of Con-way are prepared to take on the highest level of responsibility when the opportunity arises. Participants are nominated by their business units and, based on an extensive interview and evaluation process, and are selected from throughout the enterprise by CEO Douglas W. Stotlar and his executive committee.

The three-year executive education curriculum - the highest level of training and development offered within the Con-way Leadership Academy - provides in-depth education and training through workshops, symposiums and other modules specifically designed to develop leadership and executive management skills.

Employees selected for the 2008 class are:

Morgan Anderson - director, account management, Menlo Worldwide Logistics
Billy Cartright - director, recruiting, Con-way Truckload
Carl Fowler - director, account management, Menlo Worldwide Logistics
Faith Garcia-Ross - director, operations (multi-client), Menlo Worldwide Logistics
Tony Graham - manager, regional sales, Con-way Freight
Anthony Hoereth - director, business development, Con-way Freight
Paul Lorensen - director, solutions engineering, Con-way Freight
John McCutcheon - region manager, Con-way Freight
Chris Richards - IT director, business technology consulting and project management, Con-way Enterprise Services
Terry Riordan - director, human resources, Con-way Inc.
Troy Robertson - associate general counsel, Con-way Truckload
