Averitt Express, Cookeville, Tenn., has opened a 40,000-square-foot service center in Tampa, Fla.
The new facility on 6622 East Hillsborough Avenue replaces Averitt’s previous leased facility located at 6501 Harney Road. It doubles the capacity of the previous service center, with more than 70 dock bays, a 5,400-square-foot administrative office and 34,800 square foot operations and dock area, all on a 19-acre lot.
Averitt currently employs 75 associates and has 32 tractors based on site at the new facility. The company expects growth to add up to eight new jobs this year and a projected 35 new jobs over the next five years.
Averitt is also presently completing construction of a full-service maintenance facility adjacent to the new service center equipped with on-site fueling and truck wash bays. The on-site fueling system makes use of a card-lock dispensing system that monitors fuel usage statistics and service center fueling information.
Averitt operates five service centers in Florida including facilities in Jacksonville, Miami, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa.
Averitt Express is a global freight transportation and logistics provider offering less-than-truckload, truckload, expedited (ground and air), international, dedicated, and logistics services.
