Tires and Tiaras: Speedco Helps Grant Child's Wish

People might think of trucking, tires and service bays as a typical "manly" realm, but for a little girl in Arizona, a Speedco became a princess fantasy.

Speedco helped grant 5-year-old Emmalynn's wish to have a pink and purple playhouse this fall at Speedco 304 in Kingman, Ariz. through its corporate alliance with Make-A-Wish America.

All 51 Speedco locations competed to raise the most donations for Make-A-Wish during the Share a Dream promotion that took place throughout 2011. Speedco 304 in Kingman, Ariz., won the competition by collecting more than $3,000, and earned the privilege of hosting a wish party for a local child. In total, Speedco raised $25,000 during the promotion.

Speedco teammates helped Make-A-Wish surprise Emmalynn with a pink and purple playhouse that included her own mailbox and play car. A few days later, Emmalynn and her 3-year-old sister celebrated at the Speedco store.

The Speedco service bays were changed into a beauty salon as the girls received makeovers and were transformed into princesses. After the makeovers, the little beauties walked down the red carpet to their princess party.

"It's a pleasure to meet someone as special as Emmalynn and her family," Mark Clark, President & CEO of Speedco, said during the party. "Were so lucky to share this experience with them. It melts your heart to see the smiles on these little girls faces today."

Speedco has donated more than $400,000 since naming Make-A-Wish their corporate charity in 2006. Donations are collected daily at all 51 Speedco locations and through a bi-yearly golf tournament (Speedco Fore Wishes) held with Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
