Got Questions? ELDs and Telematics

December 07, 2017

Q. Can drivers operate an ELD-equipped truck even if they aren’t required to track their RODS with an ELD?

A. Yes, drivers can operate an ELD-equipped truck and still use their exemption from using an ELD to track their records of duty status (RODS). Fleets have a number of options to note this exemption, including configuring the ELD to show the exception for drivers exempt from using the ELD or they can use the ELD annotation to record the driver’s exempt status.
