Got Questions? ELDs and Telematics

August 25, 2017

Q. How can telematics be used to improve driver behavior?

A. By monitoring a driver’s behavior in near real-time fleet managers can identify problem areas as they occur, and then provide immediate feedback. With today’s telematics technology, feedback can be delivered instantly, right after the unwanted driving event occurs.

In this way, the driver clearly knows what he or she did was outside of the acceptable practices and can modify his or her actions immediately. Driver coaching in the moment is much more effective in shaping behavior rather than instruction at a later time.
