DTI is an LTL carrier, truckload carrier and broker operation and though the LTL assets have been purchased by Central Freight Lines, the truckload carrier and broker operation will continue under its ownership.
“The acquisition of DTI’s LTL business will enhance Central Freight Line’s ability to directly service the entire state of Georgia,” said Don Orr, president and CEO of Central Freight Lines.
Central Freight Lines now operates 55 terminals throughout the southwest, midwest and southeast and covers 15 states from California to Georgia. They operate 24 terminals out of Texas alone.
DTI was founded in 1959 and originally delivered critical shipments to hospitals, nursing homes and clinics throughout the South. In August, DTI filed for bankruptcy protection, after its lender demanded payment of more than $7 million.
