Stemco says its new Auto-Torq axle fastener simplifies wheel-end installation — no torque wrench required.
Auto-Torq eliminates the need for complex processes and specialty tools. It’s designed with an internal mechanism for optimal wheel bearing adjustment according to Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Recommended Practice J2535 for Wheel Bearing Adjustment and Optimal Bearing Life.

With no need for washers, clips, snap rings, screws, or keepers, Auto-Torq makes installation simple and efficient, according to Stemco, reducing potential causes of installation failure. An integrated locking mechanism prevents backoff while still allowing easy removal for annual inspections and maintenance.
Plus, by applying the optimum clamp load on the bearings every time, bearing wear is minimized, resulting in longer bearing service life.
Auto-Torq offers an all-in-one solution that is compatible with any industry hub manufacturer. When combined with Stemco seals, bearings, and hubcaps, customers can benefit from extended warranties on their wheel ends.
“This is one of the most revolutionary products in our long history of innovation, and we are excited for the impact it will have on the industry,” said Chip Stuhr, Stemco vice president and general manager.
