Products are chosen based on how well they address the following criteria:
Innovation
Ability to address industry issues
Potential to help fleets’ bottom lines
Eligible products were reported on by HDT’s editors in our print or digital products during calendar year 2020. Not eligible for the Top 20 awards are full powered vehicles or concept/demonstration vehicles or products. Products must be commercially available or expected to become commercially available in 2021. Companies are limited to having one award in a year.
The following Top 20 products are listed in alphabetical order by company name. Details on each one will appear in our March print issue and will be posted on our website later this month.
Anthony Liftgates: MRT-XL liftgate, allowing drivers to safely load and unload extra-large items.
BorgWarner: Delco Remy Smart Starter, which offers extra protection to reduce downtime.
Carrier Transicold: TRU-Mount Solar Charging System, which conveniently fits on top of the transport refrigeration unit.
Cummins: Acumen advanced engine computing and connectivity module.
Daimler Trucks North America: Detroit DD15 Gen 5 engine, offering increased downspeeding and improved combustion for better fuel economy.
East Manufacturing: Narrow Spec Dump Trailer, maximizing payload for fleets hauling sand and gravel or commodity loads.
ERoad: Clarity Dashcam, providing front-facing or dual front/driver-facing high-definition video.
Hendrickson: Haulmaax EX next-generation heavy-duty rubber suspension for vocational applications.
Mack Trucks: Command Steer advanced active steering system, which reduces driver effort.
Michelin: X One Line Energy T2 wide-base tire, the company’s most fuel-efficient trailer tire to date.
Mitchell 1: TruckSeries truck-repair software, with a new interactive wiring diagrams feature.
Noregon: NextStep Repair interactive maintenance guide, which offers step-by-step repair instructions and guidance for all engine makes and models.
Phillips Connect Technologies: Smart7 Remote Precheck allows fleets to remotely conduct pre-check inspections on an entire trailer fleet at the touch of a button.
Premier Manufacturing: Saf-T-Latch pintle hitch will close automatically if a driver forgets to do the job manually.
Proterra: Fleet-Scale EV Charging Solutions, which are customizable and can be configured at a broad range of power levels.
SkyBitz: SkyBitz Kinnect, a next-generation GPS tracking solution that integrates sensor data from trailers and containers through one device.
Snider Fleet Solutions: WheelRight Drive-over Inspection System flags problems with tires before the vehicle leaves the lot.
Valvoline: Premium Blue One Solution Gen2, a premium engine oil that works in diesel, natural gas, and gasoline engines and provides extended oil drain intervals.
Wabash National: Wabash MSC Refrigerated Trailer Powered by eNow Solar Energy. Using technologies from eNow and Carrier Transicold, Wabash created a zero-emission composite refrigerated trailer.
ZF: Wabco Connected Trailer Platform, an intelligent trailer platform.
