ConMet Releases Lightweight Brake Drum

Consolidated Metco released the TruCast brake drum which the company calls competitively priced and designed for optimum braking performance. ConMet has also updated its line of hub rebuild kits.
The TruCast brake drum has been balanced for vibration free operation and tested to meet FMVSS and OEM standards. The brake drums are available through dealer networks and ConMet premier partners as of Dec. 1.
TruCast comes in a 16.5 x 8.625 inches version that ConMet says is nine pounds lighter than a standard cast drum. There is also a 16.5 x 7 inches version that weighs 106 pounds.
“We relied on our proven TruTurn and CastLite brake drum technologies to create an affordable brake drum for heavy-duty truck and trailer applications,” said Mark Wagner, vice president of wheel ends at ConMet.
Also on Dec. 1, ConMet released updated hub rebuild kits designed to meet the rebuilding needs of PreSet and PreSet Plus hubs.
“Whether you are replacing an entire hub assembly or rebuilding one and only need a few components we offer the right ConMet parts for the job,” said Wagner.
