ConMet has added a new lightweight version of its popular TruTurn brake drum called the TruTurn Lite.
The brake drum is designed and manufactured to be as much as 10% lighter than standard drums while still maintaining strength and performance. The drums are manufactured with a “tuned-to-balance” machining process that improves drum strength by eliminating the need for weld-on weights and balance cuts.
The process also creates other advantages such as uniform thermal expansion for reduced brake pulsing and improved heat transfer to keep the drum and its linings cooler. Braking force is more evenly distributed and occurrences of vibration and judder are reduced. By maintaining lower temperatures, the drums have improved durability and performance.
The brake drum will be available by May 1, 2016.
