XATA Corp., provider of mobile asset solutions to the transportation industry, has announced the support of various handhelds through its fleet management solutions.

This technology development marks the beginning of many improvements being made to XATA's Web-based fleet solutions that target improved fleet productivity and customer service.
"XATA has been known for its strength in onboard, driver-based applications," said Joel Jorgenson, XATA general manager of fleet operations. "We've ported many of these proven application processes to handheld devices in efforts to further our customers' ability to promote mobile commerce in the field and integrate point-of-delivery capabilities with fleet management, a growing trend in private fleets."
XATA has finished development of its driver-based fleet applications to support both Palm- and CE-based operating systems. Handhelds will include several devices from two of the industry's leading providers.
