Anticipating sales growth into the triple digits, Auxiliary Power Dynamics, manufacturers of the Willis APU, recently completed its move to a new facility in Sparks, Nev., which is five times bigger than Willis’ previous location.

“We’re enjoying tremendous growth because the Willis APU is a product that dramatically reduces fuel consumption and reduces pollution for truck operators,” said Samy Karuppana, Auxiliary Power Dynamics president and chief executive officer.
In the last six to eight months, sales of the Willis APU have increased by 400 percent. Karuppana believes several reasons have fueled the company’s growth: cost of fuel; recognition that the Willis APU can extend a truck’s trade cycle; enforcement of anti-idling regulations in the United States and Canada; the ability of the Willis APU to offer truck operators a positive cash flow from the first month through a leasing program; and the benefit of making drivers safer drivers by improving their environment and making it easier for them to get the sleep they need.
The Willis APU eliminates main idling by providing auxiliary power as soon as the truck is parked. The Willis APU distinguishes itself from other APUs by delivering more heating and cooling capacity – up to 33,000 BTU (British thermal units). Its three-cylinder, 18-hp Kubota engine makes it quiet, powerful and inexpensive to maintain. At 350 pounds, it’s also one of the lowest-weight APUs on the market.
The building is located at 945 Spice Islands Drive, which is situated about two miles northeast of the Reno/Tahoe International Airport, and about one mile south of Exit 20 on U.S. Interstate 80.
