Western Star Trucks recently delivered its 2000th truck to Australia. The first fully assembled Western Star trucks were delivered to Australia in early 1993. Prior to that the Canadian based company shipped components to Australia for assembly there.
The 2000th truck is a Constellation 4964FX with a 500 hp Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine, Eaton Fuller RoadRanger 18-speed transmission, Meritor 46,000 lb. drive axle and Hendrickson HAS 461 air suspension system. It has a 48-inch high sleeper cab, Alcoa alloy wheels, and four 450-liter aluminum fuel tanks.
The truck was purchaed by Ash Willow Pty. Ltd. and will be used to haul a 45-foot refrigerated trailer for a company that ships exotic meats throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
