The World’s Largest Truckstop has once again hosted the biggest trucking celebration of its kind. The 27th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree, held July 13-14, hosted more than 32,000 drivers and their families.
During the two days, guests were treated to 200 exhibits; a Super Truck Beauty Contest with 80 trucks competing; an antique truck display with more than 200 vehicles; an Iowa pork chop cookout; Trucker’s Best Friend Pet Contest; Trucker Olympics; carnival games; three live bands including driver favorite Leland Martin; and a fireworks display.
Iowa 80's new Super Truck Showroom grand opening also took place during the Jamboree.
“We want our driver customers to know how much we appreciate them”, says Delia Moon Meier, Iowa 80 Truckstop senior vice president. “Professional drivers are the reason that we have everything; from groceries to clothes to the cars we drive. The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is the perfect chance for us to say ‘thank you’ and show drivers just how important they are to us and to America. It also gives the general public a chance to get a close-up look at some of the most fantastic trucks on the road. It is a great event for the image of the trucking industry.”
The Walcott Truckers Jamboree began in 1979 featuring a few exhibits, live music, food and a small display of antique trucks.
The 28th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree is scheduled for Thursday and Friday July 12 and 13, 2007.
