Volvo Truck North America and sister company Mack Trucks both announced they have built production trucks with EPA 2010 emissions reductions systems on the assembly line.

Volvo rolled out its first production-level EPA 2010 Volvo VN on July 2 at its New River Valley Plant in Dublin, Va., a Volvo VN670. The truck was fully assembled at the New River Valley facility.

Mack announced it has built Mack Granite and Mack TerraPro models equipped with the new engines on the production line at its Macungie Assembly Operations plant in Pennsylvania.

"The fact that we are already building these trucks online clearly demonstrates that we are ready to start producing them for our customers," said Jim Goodell, Macungie's vice president and general manager.

Both Mack and Volvo will use selective catalytic reduction exhaust aftertreatment to meet the near-zero emissions standards of EPA 2010. These trucks have the same components that will be installed on customer trucks later this year.
