Volvo Trucks North America will kick off its 2010 Driving Success Tour this May. On the tour, fleet managers and owner-operators across the U.S. and Canada will experience a Volvo VN780

, including an EPA 2010-certified Volvo D13 engine with Volvo I-Shift automated manual transmission.

The Volvo VN, staffed with product experts, will visit Volvo Truck dealerships across North America to educate customers how to maximize fuel economy, drive productivity and reduce costs. According to Volvo, the vehicle's selective catalytic reduction technology reduces fuel consumption, lowers engine heat rejection, has billions of real-world miles of experience and eliminates active regenerations for diesel particulate filters.

Attendees will also get up close and personal with the I-Shift, built to improve driveability and fuel economy even more through Eco-Torque, which uses dual torque curves to provide higher torque in the top two gears when needed.

The Driving Success Tour's VN780 is outfitted with other fuel-saving technologies, including wide-base tires, a battery-powered bunk air conditioning system and full aerodynamic fairings, including Volvo's adjustable trim tabs.

The tractor also is equipped with the Volvo Enhanced Cruise (VEC) system, an advanced collision avoidance technology that works with a truck's cruise control to maintain a safe following distance between vehicles. VEC also has the capability to automatically slow the truck with the engine and foundation brakes to maintain a set following distance, while at the same time alerting the driver to potential danger.

The tour will start off in the western U.S. in May and make its way to other regions of the U.S. and Canada this summer and fall.
