Utility Trailer has selected Glade Springs, VA, as the site of its seventh regional manufacturing facility. The new plant will serve Utility dealers and customers in the eastern United States and Canada. The 250,000-square-foot, $14 million facility, expected to open in the fall of 2000, will produce Utility's lightweight 2000-D model dry freight van. The company said it will also expand its dry freight product line with new models and options focused on the Eastern marketplace.
"We have dedicated financial resources to meet increased demand for the 2000-D dry freight van," said Utility's President Hal Bennett. "The addition of this third (dry van) plant also provides us with the opportunity to increase our overall share of the dry van market segment."
Bennett said Glade Springs was selected because the company has been pleased with the quality, attitude and work ethic of employees at its refrigerated van plant in nearby Atkins, VA.
Utility also builds dry vans in the City of Industry, CA, and Paragould, AR.
