Jim Sundy, a veteran truck sales professional with Nalley Motor Trucks, Atlanta, has been honored by the Used Truck Association with the Marvin F. Gordon Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the used truck industry.
Sundy was honored during an awards banquet at this year’s UTA convention, held in early November at the Rio Rico Resort & Country Club, Rio Rico, Ariz.
The award, created and sponsored by the UTA, commemorates Gordon’s extraordinary accomplishments and recognizes his lifetime achievement in the used truck industry.
Sundy is only the third recipient of the honor. The inaugural award was presented to Gordon at the 1999 Truck Blue Book Used Truck Seminar. Jerry Nerman, a founder of Kansas City-based Arrow Truck Sales, received the second award during the UTA’s first convention, held late last year. It was Nerman who made the award presentation to Sundy.
“I am extremely honored to receive the UTA’s Marvin F. Gordon Lifetime Achievement Award,” Sundy said in accepting his recognition. “I am following is some very distinguished footsteps.”
He went on to comment: “I have always been committed to the used truck industry and I take great pride in knowing that my colleagues and associates feel I have made some difference in helping that industry evolve.”
Sundy challenged convention attendees to continue to support the UTA and to work toward future growth for the used truck industry by being leaders and by promoting professionalism and integrity.
Sundy has been involved in truck sales for more than 45 years, the past 30 with Nalley Motor Trucks. Based in Atlanta, with branches in Duluth and Kennesaw, Ga., the dealership handles Peterbilt, International, Hino and Isuzu trucks.
Among his many honors, Sundy is a member of the International Triple Diamond Club and the UTA. In 1994, he was chosen as Peterbilt’s Used Truck Manager of the Year and was named Used Truck Sales Professional of the Year by Truck Sales & Leasing magazine and the Truck Blue Book.
Sundy serves on the Advisory Councils of Peterbilt, Detroit Diesel and Blue Book Values.
