USA Convoy Brings Total to $93,000 Raised
Following Convoy for a Cure - USA at Willie's Place in Texas on Saturday, $93,000 has been raised for Breast Cancer Research between the four convoys that have taken place throughout the U.S. and Canada this yea

, an average of $1,000, according to Cindy Stowe, U.S. coordinator of the event.
While Stowe expected well over 100 trucks at the Oct. 24 event, the convoy still had a good turnout, with 31 drivers showing up and $12,400 raised so far. Stowe expects the grand total to be over $13,000 once all the funds are collected.
"Everybody had a fantastic time," Stowe said. The 31 participants lined up in their trucks at Willie's Place at Carl's Corner, and the convoy drove throughout the neighborhood.
Stowe said the event saw a great amount of support from the surrounding community. She even received an e-mail from someone in the neighborhood, saying, "You just passed my house, and it was awesome."
"Breast cancer touches the lives of everyone-whether it is a friend, family member or even a co-worker," said Stowe.
This year, FedEx took home the trophy for the largest fleet showing, but Stowe could sense the competition with UPS over next year's title. Michelle White, an owner-operator for Crete Carrier Corp., won the lead position in the convoy. White is a five-time cancer survivor, one of which was breast cancer.
The organization has been invited to put on the event next year at the same place and same month. Two new organizations have already expressed interest in joining the event, including the National Association of Show Trucks and the National Hot Rod Association.
