The 700 U.S. agents of both United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit, subsidiaries of UniGroup, will join the American Moving & Storage Association in September.
The agreement is the culmination of discussions between AMSA and UniGroup based on proposals raised within the framework of AMSA's Membership Advisory Task Force. The arrangement will spread the benefits of AMSA membership more uniformly through United and Mayflower as the van lines grow their value proposition to customers and agents.
Headquartered in suburban St. Louis, United and Mayflower are among the largest van lines in the United States, offering customers a wide range of moving solutions, from do-it-yourself to full-service.
AMSA's MATF sought to review and re-shape the value AMSA members receive. The process, which began in 2010, included subcommittees focused on specific industry segments and will continue into 2011 when a new dues schedule is expected to be announced.
