UPS Logistics Group, Baltimore, has introduced Roadnet Enterprise Edition (Roadnet EE). This makes the Roadnet transportation management system accessible on an Intranet,

a company-wide private network linking locations, departments and individuals.
Roadnet EE creates and optimizes delivery routes; and produces driver manifests, maps, directions, itineraries and a variety of management reports. The enterprise edition makes those services visible anywhere on the network with only web browsing software.
Roadnet EE includes a feature called the Transportation Info Center, a set of web pages that shares route plans, stop lists, delivery history, and multiple cost comparisons at any entry point through a secure login page. The information can be available for sales, operations, customer service and management, for example.
An Intranet typically employs IP (Internet Protocol) communication, but it may or may not use the Internet itself between locations. An Intranet can also use private local area and wide area networks.
