United Rentals Deploys Air-Weigh Scales Fleetwide
United Rentals, one of the world’s largest rental companies with more than 750 rental locations and over 1,500 Class 8 transport vehicles, has selected Air-Weigh to supply on-board scales for all new equipment purchase
United Rentals, one of the world’s largest rental companies with more than 750 rental locations and over 1,500 Class 8 transport vehicles, has selected Air-Weigh to supply on-board scales for all new equipment purchases
and for retrofit of its existing transport fleet.
Through town hall meetings with dispatchers and drivers, United Rentals learned that being able to monitor axle weight and gross vehicle weight as part of the loading process would provide significant operational cost savings. By no longer wasting time going off-site to platform scales, they determined overall efficiency would be improved and they would substantially reduce or eliminate overweight tickets and under-loading.
Martin Ambros, president of Air-Weigh, said, "With Air-Weigh 5800 Series tractor and trailer scales on their rental transport equipment, United Rentals now provides their drivers with the ability to properly load their truck or trailer quickly and efficiently right on site. United Rentals has implemented a solution that also offers value to their customers by eliminating equipment drop-off or pick-up delays due to legalizing axle weights, while at the same time eliminating the costs of overweight fines."
Air-Weigh scales save fleets time and money by providing accurate and reliable weights right at the loading site. Air-Weigh’s innovative and accurate scale products are available in a wide variety of configurations for both tractors and trailers.
Founded in 1995 and based in Eugene, Ore., Air-Weigh provides on-board electronic scales for numerous vehicle types in the transportation industry. For more information, go to www.air-weigh.com.
