Transportation sales and marketing professionals enhanced their leadership skills during the Transportation Sales & Marketing Assn. (TSMA) 2004 Annual Conference.
The conference, entitled "Building on Our Strengths" took place March 28-31 at the Wigwam Resort & Golf Club in Phoenix. The conference included presentations on building sales teams, brand image and applying technology.
Keynote Speaker Blaine Lee, founding vice president of FranklinCovey, demonstrated to attendees how his philosophy, "build your people, they will build your business," enhances their business and personal lives.
Bob Clark, president of PI Consulting Group, presented a session on using assessment tools to identify behavioral traits needed to excel in sales and marketing. He also led a workshop that focused on developing dynamic and cohesive sales and marketing teams.
Barry Feinberg, senior vice president at GfK Custom Research, focused on brand image perception, customer loyalty and customer satisfaction during his workshops. Daniel Klaussen, founding partner, Golden Gate Associates, examined the latest personal and professional technology innovations, and he helped attendees conquer the avalanche of electronic information they face at work and home during a roundtable discussion.
TSMA also elected its 2004-2005 board of directors during the conference. Christopher Reinhart, executive vice president, Oliver Trucking Corp. (Indianapolis, Ind.), was elected as the organization’s new president.
New board members include Mitch Anderson, vice president of sales and marketing, Milan Express (Milan, Tenn.); Terry Bennett, vice president of sales, FedEx Freight (San Jose, Calif.); Kevin Philpott, president, U-Can Express, Ltd. (Etobicoke, Ontario); and Dick Thill, director, parcel and LTL marketing, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (Fort Worth, Texas).
Continuing to serve on the board of directors are Candi Cybator, marketing and public relations manager, Pitt-Ohio Express (Pittsburgh, Pa.); Bob Eck, vice president and group director, Penton Media Inc. (Cleveland, Ohio); Bill Ferreira, president and publisher, National Highway Carriers Directory Inc. (Buffalo Grove, Ill.); Scott Fisher, general manager, Estes Air Transportation Services (St. Paul, Minn.); Steve Hartmann, vice president, Mid-States Express Inc. (Aurora, Ill.); Ken Manning, president, Transportation Costing Group Inc. (Bethesda, Md.); and John Marsaglia, vice president of sales and operations, Maple Transportation, LLC (Normal, Ill.).
