Truckinginfo.com, the trucking news site on the web, has added two new features, the DAT Hot Index and a link to Comdata's database of recent retail fuel prices around the country.
The DAT Hot Index displays the balance of truckload shipments by state. On a map of the 48 continental states, each is colored black, white or green. States colored green, called “Hot States,” are sending more loads than they receive. Backhauls will be easier to find there.
States colored black are called “Black Hole States,” where more loads are inbound than outbound. It will be more difficult to find backhauls from the Black Hole states.
Of course, states colored white are more or less in balance.
The Hot Index is updated weekly and is a simple visual tool to keep truckers apprised of national freight balance.
The second feature is a link to the site of ComData where users can up look up truckstops for recent retail fuel prices at each location. This feature can be found under the menu item “Directories.” Under that heading, click on the “Truckstop Directory” choice.
