U.S. Xpress is accepting responsibility for one of its drivers who destroyed a historic 91-year-old pergola in Seattle Monday.

It will take an estimated $1 million to repair the 60 foot cast iron and glass structure, originally built as a cable car stop. It was one of the city's best known landmarks.
The Seattle Times reports the driver was relatively inexperienced, working at the Tennessee-based carrier since October. The accident happened when the trucker turned his tractor-trailer too sharply, jumping the curb and consequently hitting one corner of the structure, bringing it down, according to one bystander, "like a house of cards."
Greg Thompson, U.S. Xpress spokesman, told the newspaper that insurance should cover the cost of the rebuilding and commented that the driver of the truck is "sorry about what happened, just as we are."
