The Technology & Maintenance Council is making ready for its 2003 Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition, to be held March 11-14 at the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center,
Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
"Driving Truck Technology - Vision to Reality" is the theme of this year's meeting. Full technical sessions will include Future Reliability/Predictive Maintenance, which will include a discussion of TMC's Far Horizons timeline paper, and Mobile Intelligent Asset Management.
Mini-technical sessions focusing on equipment and maintenance will include: "More Electric Power, Less Emissions, Less Idling"; "Tread Act and Its Impact on Fleets"; "Fleet's First Impression with 2002 Engines"; "Today's Cabs -- Can They Be Fixed?"; "Benefits of VMRS"; "Temperature Controlled Trailers and Bodies - What's It All About?"; "Electronic Systems Diagnostic Update -- A Show and Tell"; and "Is Torsional Vibration Shaking the Dollars Out of Your Maintenance Budget?"
Information technology and logistics technical sessions will include: "Web-based hiring Systems -- Can the Internet Meet All Your Hiring Needs?"; "XML Standards for Transportation -- Reality or Still Fiction?"; "Carton Level Tracking with New Chip Technology"; and "New Cell Technologies -- How They Are Used in an Industry Context."
The meeting will also be the first for the new S.15 Vocational Trucks Study Group. S.15 includes refuse, utility, construction and off-highway industries. It will present a mini-technical session, Maintenance and Specification Guidelines for Vocational Trucks.
TMC's Transportation Technology Exhibition, trucking's premier equipment exhibit, will feature more than 250 exhibitors over more than 150,000 square feet of exhibit space. The exhibit will include practical, hands-on demonstrations with exhibitor products, giving fleet members an opportunity to inspect equipment and accessories while talking directly to product representatives.
Fleet members can have their exhibit card marked for each exhibit in which they participated in a demonstration and be eligible for prize drawing. Last year's winner had a choice between a trip for two to either the Super Bowl or the Daytona 500.
TMC is North America's technical society for truck equipment, information technology and logistics professionals. TMC member fleets represent 1.3 million trailers, more than 750,000 straight trucks, and more than 600,000 Class 8 tractors purchased in the United States -- one third of the commercial vehicles operating on U.S. highways.
For registration, or additional meeting or exhibit information, contact TMC at (703) 838-1763, or email: tmc@trucking.org.
