The organizers of The Truck Show Latino have changed its name to The Golden State Trucking Expo, in an effort to attract a wider range of truckers to the event.

Roger Sherrard, president of Independent Trade Show Management, which organizes the show, originally established The Truck Show Latino after noticing very little participation by Latino drivers at other shows.

"This was of great concern, as Latinos make up the largest ethnic group of drivers in the southwest United States," he said, on the show's website. "While meeting with Tom Stanford, then editor of RoadStar Magazine, we came up with the idea of a show targeting Latino drivers and The Truck Show Latino was created."

Sherrard said 99 percent of the show's audience was Latino, while other truckers thought the show wasn't for everybody.

With the new name, Sherrard hopes to attract truckers of all ethnicities.

This year's The Golden State Trucking Expo will be held Oct. 16 and 17 at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif.
