Truck Show Latino Draws Large Crowds to Pomona Fairplex
Truck Show Latino, the first truck show specifically targeting the Latino truck driver, opened to large crowds this past Saturday, drawing nearly 5,000 visitors – many of whom returned to the Fairplex exhibit halls on Sunday.

Show-goers look on as Jaime Avila accepts keys to a brand new Ford F150 at Truck Show Latino last weekend.
The second annual event was held this year in conjunction with the Construction Truck and Equipment Expo. A total of 150 exhibitors displayed products and services for the trucking industry in two buildings at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. Outside, dozens of shiny show trucks lined two sides of the street.
“While the main focus of the show is business, we also wanted the crowds to have fun,” said Roger Sherrard, president of Independent Trade Show Management LLC, the show’s producer. “We had musicians wandering the halls, entertaining the crowds during the show and a live concert after the show closed Saturday night.”
The crowds may have been entertained by the music, but the big event was the drawing for a new Ford F150 pickup. “We are very grateful for having Ford Commercial Truck sponsor the show this year,” Sherrard said. “Ford’s commitment to the Latino market and The Truck Show Latino enabled us to give the truck away to a luck winner Sunday afternoon.”
That lucky winner was Jaime Avila, who, with his family, claimed the shiny red truck amid loud cheers from the hundreds of entrants.
Among the highlights at last weekend's Truck Show Latino was a Stars & Stripes truck competition, with more than two dozen dazzling and decked-out big rigs competing for trophies and prizes.
The Truck Show Latino is a joint venture of Newport Communications and Independent Trade Show Management. The 2007 show is scheduled for Oct. 20 and 21 at Fairplex in Pomona.
