Tripmaster Corporation has announced what it says is a groundbreaking new product platform: the TKO Series of onboard systems.

Using proven Tripmaster technology, and a new compact, flexible platform, the TKO Series delivers powerful solutions to fleet managers who are seeking an onboard system that is easily adaptable to their specific operations.
The new TKO Series design allows smaller fleets, and those with mixed vehicle sizes, to capture vehicle and driver performance data at an affordable price. Adding an integral GPS receiver to the TKO introduces automated electronic DOT logs, hands-free state mileage, and downloaded route assignments.
Available in three models, the TKO Series onboard systems use a new, simple-to-use, fully integrated, self-contained, terminal/keypad platform. Vehicle data collection is via onboard sensors or the J-1708 data buss, enabling the TKO to be installed on vehicles of any size or type.
The TKO-100 is the base model. Combined with its powerful onboard applications and the affordable companion Tripmaster Office Lite software, the TKO-100 provides fleet managers with a wide selection of standard Tripmaster reports. These include: Driver Scorecard, Comprehensive Trip Report, Vehicle Event Analysis, Miles Per Gallon, Driver Performance Score Report, Driver Performance Summary, Speed/RPM Matrix and a Fleet Data Processing Summary. Data retrieval and driver log-on is accomplished by simply inserting the Traveler IIT (MM3) memory card. Application and vehicle parameter updates are automatic using the card as well. Drivers can even log on manually with a PIN code by using the keypad. Because the TKO remains in the vehicle, it keeps recording information even if the driver forgets his card.
The TKO-200 offers the full range of features found on the TKO-100, plus adds GPS-based tracking and vehicle location information to the list of Tripmaster Office Lite reports that are available.
The TKO-300 incorporates all of the basic reporting information found on the 100 and 200 versions, including the integrated GPS receiver. The Model 300 uses a more sophisticated keypad layout and available applications including Tripmaster LogTrak for electronic DOT logs, Tripmaster FuelTrak for hands-free state mile recording and Tripmaster Routes for downloadable route assignments in a single rugged package.
The TKO-300's available onboard applications may be purchased separately or in packages. By only purchasing what the fleet owner needs today, the system can be tailored to his exact requirements and budget. Additional applications can be installed at any time. When combined with Tripmaster Office software, users have a much wider range of reporting capabilities and an industry standard open database (ODBC). Tripmaster Standards and Tripmaster Maps can be selected as well, extending the value and reach of the system's analytical capabilities.
According to Tripmaster, keypad simplicity and ease of use were paramount design criteria. Examples include a programmable driver interface for customizing the primary display options. Each user can decide what his drivers see on the main screen while additional choices are viewed through the easy display menus.
Each TKO model features a single data key. This allows the driver to view user-designed prompts for easy data entry by simply scrolling through a menu. As many as 100 prompts can be created by the fleet.
The TKO Series was developed in response to requests by fleets that need only basic onboard data collection capabilities for vehicles of several GVW ranges. This category includes a wide range of service type fleets such as florists, lawn maintenance, plumbing companies, air conditioning and heating companies, construction company support vehicles and retail route delivery companies such as beverage and food service distributors.
In addition, the enhanced capabilities of the TKO-300 version provide an economical answer to those operations needing to address DOT regulatory and compliance reporting and fuel tax usage requirements. Private and for-hire liquid bulk haulers, dairy processors, bus and charter coach, as well as food service operations and grocery fleets fit in this category.
For existing Tripmaster customers whose fleets are equipped with the full-featured Tripmaster DT-240/GPS system, the TKO Series allows them to easily add onboard systems to their light and medium vehicle segments, since all Tripmaster products are compatible with Tripmaster Office, Routes, Standards and Maps software, plus various Tripmaster interfaces for other applications.
