GPS technology company Trimble announced Tuesday that its subsidiary, Trimble Mobile Solutions Inc., will form a distribution alliance with AmeriQuest

Transportation and Logistics Resources Corp. The companies will offer low-cost asset tracking and security solutions using Trimble’s TrimTrac locator.
The TrimTrac locator, based on GPS and cellular communications, is a palm-sized, battery operated device that enables fleet operators to track cargo, trailers, heavy equipment and other assets over the Internet.
AmeriQuest arranges a broad range of transportation-related services, including full-service leasing, dedicated contract carriage, logistics consulting, fleet management services, asset services and procurement. AmeriQuest is provider of procurement and transportation-related services for strategic partners including Bandag Inc., CITGO, Corcentric, Cummins, Eaton Corp., Fleetguard, Freightliner LLC, Imperial Supplies LLC, International Truck and Engine Corporation, Sterling Truck Corp. and Trimble Mobile Solutions.
“AmeriQuest continually looks for value added solutions such as the TrimTrac locator to expand our state-of-the-art technology services, which reach a network of 525,000 transportation vehicles,” said Doug Clark, CEO of AmeriQuest.
“The TrimTrac locator brings value to any company with distributed assets, whether rolling stock or cargo,” said Rick Beyer, CEO of Trimble Mobile Solutions.
“The TrimTrac locator is easy to install, with no wires or external antennas,” commented Eric White, Business Development Manager for Trimble Mobile Solutions. TrimTrac’s enhanced GPS sensitivity and compact size make it ideal for discrete placement in vehicles or cargo. The TrimTrac locator supports 900 positions using four AA batteries or an external 12 volt source.”
TMS and AmeriQuest intend to offer multiple service plans designed to enable asset management for a variety of fleet and transportation organizations. The solution is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2005.
