TravelCenters of America has upgraded its driver lounges and will no longer allow smoking in the lounges.
All driver lounges at TA and Petro locations will feature a 55-inch or larger flat screen LCD HDTV. In addition to the flat screen TVs, Petro's large movie room locations will also offer surround sound system and a DVD/VCR combination unit. New La-Z-Boy theater seating and carpet are also being installed at several locations.
"As full-service leaders, we want professional drivers to have a home away from home feeling when they visit us," said Tom O'Brien, president and CEO.
Driver lounge upgrades are expected to be completed by the end of January 2011. In addition, in an effort to align with the new driver health & wellness program StayFit, driver lounges and theaters are now non-smoking. Smoking is still permitted (where legal) inside amusement game rooms.
